The doctor says I have COPD

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a rapidly growing poverty among Americans. If you as having COPD, you know how devastating that can be diagnosed, have been. Their quality of life deteriorated, because there is no longer a simple task, which includes physical activity do. It 's true that COPD will slow, but will likely not lead to your downfall.

What is COPD anyway? The airways branch out into the lungs as an upsideTree. At the end of each branch are small, balloon-like air bags. In healthy people, both the airways and air sacs are elastic and springy. When you breathe, every air pocket fills with air like a balloon. In COPD, airways and air sacs lose their shape and form distorted, stretched like a rubber band is not that retains its original. In short, COPD is a disease that effects the lungs where the airways are partly havefunctional. Is not reversible or curable, but treatable. Included in the family of diseases that compose COPD is emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Asthma COPD is not as if they have allergies, but for a long time, may develop in COPD.

Where did it come from?

I contacted asthma in 1972 when I moved from Southern California to New Hampshire. I had no idea of moving to a different climate may cause breathing problems, and it ishere I am 36 years later, with COPD. Honestly, it sucks and whoever says different, probably not. Do not breathe the situation is frustrating because you feel like you can do everything but. You can not have normal relations with their spouse, grandchild, or the environment. I had no idea

Many people with COPD to know what their condition is not doing anything until they have lost much of their lung function. People tend to struggle with adapting to their suffering. They are less active, which could accelerate her condition without adequate treatment. Because COPD usually occurs slowly, people get used to his condition. How to Make a Nappy Cake For Beginners

To make a one tier nappy cake you will need nappies, any brand of your choice, ribbons, nappy pins, muslin wrap or baby blanket and wrapping ribbon or rubber bands.

To begin roll each nappy starting from the open end so it rolls into a tube. Now we are going to secure the rolled nappy in place. Some people like to use rubber bands as it's the easiest option and would recommend for beginners. Personally I like to use wrapping ribbon as I think it adds more of a personal touch and look nicer than rubber bands. You want to repeat this step for approximately fourteen nappies. Once you have rolled and secured all your nappies you want to bundle them all together and secure them. For beginners it is easiest to get someone else to hold all the nappies together while you secure them. While the nappies are being held together wrap either a rubber band around the fourteen nappies or tie together with ribbon. Make sure it is tight and secure so no nappies fall out.

Now we want to get our baby blanket or muslin wrap and fold it in half and half again. Then just keep folding until the blanket is about as tall as the nappies. Once you have done this place your bundled nappies in the middle of the folded blanket and wrap the blanket around the nappies. You will want to move and mould it a little so it forms a round shape. Once you have done that secure the end of the blanket exposed with nappy pins. Again make sure it is tight so no nappies fall out. And there you have your basic nappy cake. I personally like to wrap a pretty ribbon around the middle of the cake and tie a big bow. For extra presentation display your nappy cake on a cake board and decorate with Baby Toys or baby items.

Balloon Brushes

Need:

# 1 package of balloons

# sticks or dowels

# rubber bands or floral wire

Gather a bunch of balloons (deflated) around a stick or dowel. Take a rubber band or floral wire and secure the balloons to the stick or dowel. Have the children dip the "balloon brush" into paint and explore!

Activities/Games

Balloon Battle

Need:

# Balloons

# string

# inflated balloons.

Designate a certain color for each team. (If you have a LOT of children you can have more teams or you don't have to have teams at all) Tie a balloon to each players ankle. Each team tries to burst the other's balloon first. The team with the last balloons wins. As your balloon is burst, you withdraw from the game.

Balloon Yo-Yos!

Need:

# 9 inch balloon

# Long rubber band

# Water

This yo-yo balloon is about the size of a baseball. You'll need to fill it with water and air to make it that size. (Aprox. 3/4 cup water and then blow to make it the right size!) The air is very important as it acts as a cushion for the water. The ratio is 1/4 water to 3/4 air.
Tie it off. Snip the rubber band and tie a loop in one end. Tie the other end snugly around the balloon stem. That's it! The kids can use markers to personalize these. They're a LOT of fun and cost about 3 cents apiece to make. They also make great party favors! Enjoy!!!

Note: Always use caution with broken balloon pieces and children. Discard of broken latex balloons immediately.

Bubble Bubble Pop Pop!

Need:

# bubble solution

# white paper

# food coloring

Take bubble solution, white construction paper, shallow pans, and food coloring outside with your child. Pour bubble solution into several shallow pans. Squeeze drops of different color food coloring into each pan. Help your child dip the bubble wand into the pan and blow bubbles onto the paper - make sure you use all the colors!

Scoop 'n Toss

Need:

#empty gallon milk jugs

#foam ball

Collect two one gallon milk jugs and a foam ball. Cut the jugs to form a scoop. Use sandpaper to rub away any sharp edges. Take your child outside and have fun playing toss. Make the activity more difficult by moving farther apart. Have Fun!

Coconut Balls

Need:

# 1 12oz. package semisweet-chocolate pieces

# 3/4 cup sweetened condensed milk

# 1tsp. vanilla extract

# 1/8 tsp. salt

# 1/8 cup coconut flakes

In a heavy, 2-quart saucepan over low heat), melt chocolate pieces. Stir in condensed milk, vanilla and salt until well mixed.

Put into the refrigerator for about 45 minutes or until it is easy to shape.
With buttered hands, shape the mixture into small balls. Roll each ball in the coconut flakes.
This recipe is a wonderful treat for young children to make with adult supervision.

Stenciling For Unique Ceramic Paint Effects

Using stencils with ceramic paint or stippling underglazes provides for striking visual and artistic effects. Although stencils are nothing more than cut-out silhouettes, by placing them strategically and adding shading they can provide an illusion of depth or motion to ceramic surfaces. Both negative (background of the stencil) and positive (solid shape cut out from the stencil) can be used to create images. The negative stencil reveals the original color of the clay; whereas the positive stencil masks the original clay color. Stencils should be made of a flexible, strong, non-porous material and be easily washable. Some examples of stencil materials are acetate sheets, vinyl fabric, frisket paper, contact paper, naugahyde, flat found items such as leaves, and commercial stencils such as those used in cake making. Using transparent or translucent stencil material, such as acetate, allows you to see through a positive stencil to make it easy to position on the piece; also acetate is durable and reusable. When creating your own stencil designs, it is a good idea to keep the shapes simple, since including delicate details can make for difficulties later on. You can make copies of your design with a copy machine (which can also be used to enlarge or reduce the size of your design). To make the stencil, put the selected image beneath a sheet of glass; place the acetate sheet over it, and cut out the shape with a craft knife. Cut along your drawing lines carefully to preserve both the positive and negative parts of the stencil.

Colors can be applied with an airbrush or liquid glazes sprayer. Don't forget to wear a mask while spraying. Rubber bands or strings can be used to hold the stencil in place on round pieces; and weights (or double stick tape) can be used to keep the stencil from blowing away on flat pieces. The sprayer should be held between eight and fourteen inches from the ceramic piece. Shaded, three-dimensional effects can be obtained by changing the color density as you spray - darker closer to the stencil edge and lighter moving outwards from it - by varying the distance or number of passes made with the sprayer or airbrush. The illusion of depth is achieved by overlapping and shading stencils in a particular sequence. Spraying the stencil; then moving it slightly and varying the density of the spray; can create an illusion of movement or dimensional space. Using a combination of the negative stencil with its positive can also create the illusion of dimensionality.

One of the more difficult aspects of using stencils is keeping in mind that the stencil which is used first is what will appear to be in front - closest to the viewer. This is because the first stencil prevents the underlying clay from ceramic colors, so it stays blank. Surrounding areas will be colored, and therefore will seem to be underneath in the final image.
