Forward your culture

After the "integral formation of our children and grandchildren now clear to me the importance of informing our family traditions and our culture. If our children (three boys) were younger, we had celebrated the holiday as we were brought up .

My family emigrated from Germany when I was a child. My parents continue to celebrate festivals in German-style, while integration of the Canadian way of life. It 'made for interesting times.Imagine Christmas. Not only celebrate on Dec. 25, but we also had the opportunity, extra goodies to St. Nicholas, December 6 preserved. Furthermore, we start our first Christmas gifts - Christmas Eve! This has made us the envy of all children on the block! This was a tradition that is still preserved to this day. Now, having grandchildren, get them to remember their German roots in this way.

One of the many modes of transmission of tradition, is through food. Each countryand nationality have special food that only they know and trust. For us, things like rolls (beef rolls), cabbage (red spicy sweet and sour cabbage), gnocchi (potato dumplings), and of course German Black Forest cake! This traditional food - for me to awaken memories. For the grandchildren, who have the opportunity to share the food of the special nature of German origin. There is also a time to practice some of the German language. Yes!

ThisInterestingly, as our children got older, she is concerned about the food they grew. Thus, calls are often at home for the recipes. Your spouse, but not of German origin, the desire to please her Hubbe, learn, and their special foods, such as the German Black Forest cake is sometimes a particular food, awaken memories - that make comfort food is usually easy to do.

Why not go back to your family treenationality, to see what there is. Then do some research in the food sector, the traditional plan and a theme night. Perhaps it is Jamaican or French or Japanese. Go all out. See costumes, music, the whole thing. Maybe learn some words and play some games that reflect the culture.

What's amazing is their culture and share it with your grandchildren - and mix with them in which we live today.
